snappic

Capture, annotate, share — in one click.

Snappic is a Chrome extension that lets you screenshot the visible tab, mark it up (pen, rectangle, arrow, text, highlight), upload it, and copy a share link — all without leaving the page.

Features

One-shot capture

Grab the visible tab in a single click from the Snappic toolbar button. No full-page scroll, no fuss.

In-page annotation

Pen, line, arrow, rectangle, highlight and text — rendered on a Shadow-DOM overlay so page CSS never leaks in.

Permanent image storage

Captures are pushed to S3-compatible object storage (AWS, R2, MinIO, Wasabi) and stay there forever — no expiration, no auto-cleanup, no "link expired" surprises.

Shareable links

Every upload gets a short /image/<slug> URL with Open Graph tags, ready to drop into chat.

Fast link access

Raw image bytes are served through a CDN edge, so recipients anywhere in the world open your share links in a snap — no cold round-trip to the origin.

Store-safe

Manifest V3, strict CSP, minimum permissions, no remote code execution — ready for the Chrome Web Store.

How it works

  1. Install the Snappic Chrome extension and point it at your backend URL in the options page.
  2. On any tab, click the Snappic toolbar icon and hit Capture visible tab to grab the visible viewport.
  3. Draw, highlight, or add text on the overlay. Save locally or hit Upload.
  4. Snappic uploads the PNG to the backend, which returns a /image/<slug> URL copied to your clipboard.
  5. Share the link — recipients see the image with Open Graph previews in Slack, Discord, Twitter, etc.
